Oxygen is the main source of life on our planet earth. We know that the air we breathe is a mixture of different gases, including oxygen and carbon dioxide, all balanced proportion. When this balance is greatly affected by air pollution, this brings great imbalances in the micro and macro biological systems. Toxic gas emissions resulting from the use of fossil fuels, burning trash, forest fires, pollution generated by the livestock sector, mineral extraction and production of various materials, transportation, bring changes in the ecological balance such as worsening of the greenhouse crop problems, health problems (such as fatigue, headache), acid rain, etc..

Pollutants

The main air pollutants are those gases that released from the combustion of gasoline, coal and oil combustion, burning of waste materials, cigarette smoking, the use of mercury in the manufacture of fluorescent lamps, thermometers, etc and the resulting fumes, the use of cadmium in the manufacture of batteries, paint, rubber, aerosols using ozone decrease.

These factors affect health became seriously increased mortality from respiratory diseases, impaired physical and mental condition as a lack of oxygen in the brain causes a progressive impairment of intellectual capacity (decreased memory, poor coordination, etc) and performance physical.

smoke particles in the air irritates the eyes which creates a high propensity to conjunctivitis.

also increases the chance of getting skin cancer due to having a deterioration of the ozone layer, reach the surface of the earth a greater amount of ultraviolet rays by potentially be a greater degree of heat stroke.

Tips useful

  • Prioritize the use of public transport and cycling to minimize the use of fossil fuels
  • Decrease electricity use
  • Reuse and recycle plastics (BioBricks and others)
  • Definitely NOT burn trash
  • Decrease consumption of cigarettes. In addition to affecting your health, affects the planet.
  • reduce the use of fluorescent and mercury thermometers. Today's technology gives us new products without the need for mercury.
  • Reducing consumption of meat and products we milk a lower concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere (main generator of greenhouse gases). Livestock consumption involves not only air pollution but the degradation and unnecessary use of water resources) .
